Some of the fastest street-legal vehicles in the region will face off during Sonic Father's Night.
In honor of dear old dad, Bristol Dragway's Street Fights is pulling out all the stops and giving every father in attendance exactly what he wants...more power.  Sonic Father's Night on Thursday, June 12 will see two classes of the fastest street-legal cars in the region square off, while someone will drive away with a brand-new lawnmower.

During the event, fathers will be able to register for the lawnmower.  Two fathers' names will be drawn and each will square off in a high-stakes grudge match on the legendary Thunder Valley quarter-mile.  The two racers will compete on equally-prepared lawnmowers, with the winner earning bragging rights and the keys to his trusty steed.

The Team Hurley USA King of the Strip True Street Challenge presented by Mac Tools kicks off the evenings activities with another Thursday night appearance in Thunder Valley.

True Street competitors must be ready to race by 6:00 p.m.  To compete, racers will first select one of six class indexes (9 second through 14 second).  Drivers must make three consecutive passes down the strip.  The times from these three passes are averaged, with the closest to the class index winning the race.

At each of the scheduled True Street events, special prizes are given away to each class index winner.  At the end of the season, the competitor with the most points in each class index walks away with an extra $1,000 in their pocket.

Jon Phillips currently leads the 9-second index, with Jonathan Williams and Kenny Barger leading the 10- and 11-second indexes, respectively.  Michelle Hachten holds first place in 13-second competition, while Chris Johnson owns the lead in the 14-second class.

To close the night, the Charter Bandits return to Street Fights, with the fastest rides on the property battling for the top prize.  It's a heads-up, all-out dash for the finish line in this exciting no-holds barred competition.  The eight quickest cars throughout the evening will line up in a single elimination ladder for a chance to claim braggin' rights and a little bit of green.

Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.  Spectator admission is $5 and racer entry is only $10.  Entry for those racing in the True Street Challenge is $20.  For $25, True Street racers can compete in both the True Street Challenge and Street Fights.
