Bristol Dragway officials Monday announced a revision to the facility schedule, setting up a four-week slate of events mixing old and new.
When the Southern Outlaw Tour event was postponed in April, promoter George Howard requested the event be placed at the end of Bristol Dragway's action-packed season schedule. With an off-weekend before it, the race was the only event planned for October.
Due to a full slate of September events: the Blast from the Past nostalgia event, the Wellmont Car Control Clinics, Mopar Thunder and the Super Chevy Show, Dragway officials have opted to move the Sept. 13-14 Bristol Bracket Blowout to Oct. 4-5.
The adjustment creates four consecutive weeks of high-octane racing, closing the season with the type of action that has highlighted Thunder Valley's 2008 campaign.
"This move will give fans the chance to see four weeks of racing with four completely different events," said Jeff Byrd, Bristol Dragway President and General Manager. "Mopar Thunder and the Super Chevy Show are two events we have had for some time, while the new Bracket Blowout and the debut Southern Outlaw Tour will provide the opportunity to see our regional bracket racers in action."
In addition, the Street Fights event scheduled for Sept. 11 will take place Thursday, Oct. 2, giving the hottest street-legal rides in the area one more chance to take on the legendary Bristol Dragway quarter-mile.
The Bristol Bracket Blowout will end the bracket schedule in style with a racer appreciation celebration to thank competitors for their support during the year. The Bracket Blowout includes a regular bracket event and a mulligan race. In the mulligan race, drivers can purchase a mulligan at the gate and use it to re-enter the race after a loss during any round of eliminations.
