Ben and Avery Denton celebrate their dominating weekend in Junior Dragster competition.

After collecting a win in last weekend's Ferguson Enterprises Pro Mod Challenge at Bristol Dragway, Lauren Freer proved that she knows what it takes to visit the winner's circle in Thunder Valley.

Freer, who earned an NHRA National Event win during the 2007 O'Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals, took her Undercover dragster to victory during Saturday's Super Pro final.

The Lewisville, N.C. native left the line with a .012 light and ran the quarter-mile with a 4.929 elapsed time (4.92 dial-in) at 139.39 mph to send Billy Rolen of Loudon home empty-handed.  Rolen's 1967 Camaro had a .031 reaction time, but went a little too fast, 6.142 on a 6.15 dial, to receive the disqualification.

Bristol's Frank Sparks earned Saturday's Pro victory when his opposition, Carl Lee Widner of Elizabethton, turned on the red-light for leaving the line too soon.  Sparks left the line with a .057 reaction and ran faster than his dial (7.160 on a 7.17 dial), while Widner ran a 6.232 elapsed time on a 6.24 dial-in.

Red-lights were in the air, as Bluff City's Jim Statzer went red in the Sportsman final, handing the win to Pikeville, Ky.'s Jim Lester.  Lester had a .005 R.T. and ran the quarter-mile in 15.563 seconds at 90.48 mph.  Statzer completed his run in 12.067 seconds at 112.26 mph.

Ben Denton from Bristol, Va. earned the victory in Junior Dragster Division I when he defeated Gray's Katie Cundiff.  Denton rolled off the line with a .084 R.T. and flashed through the line in 9.136 seconds at 70.45 mph.  Cundiff's .146 R.T., coupled with a 12.147 E.T. at 51.93 mph came up just a little short.

Elizabethton's Jared McKinney won Junior Dragster Division II when Chris Tester from Piney Flats saw red, earning a disqualification.  McKinney had a .047 R.T. and went a little faster than the dial (9.686 on a 9.72 dial).  Tester ran a 7.927 E.T. on a 7.92 dial-in, but the red-light negated the effort.

Sunday's action in the Ferguson Pro Mod Challenge saw Roan Mountain's Scotty Johnson pick up the win in the Super Pro division when Johnson City's Allen Torbett went a little too fast.

Johnson ran down the track with a 6.180 E.T. at 109.76 mph after leaving the starting line with a .029 R.T.  Torbett broke the starting beam with a .052 R.T., but a 5.966 E.T. on a 5.97 dial earned a disqualification.

Rick Mann from Trinity, N.C. earned the victory in the new 4.70 class when Junior Houston of Newland, N.C. left the line early.  Mann still turned in a perfect .000 R.T. and completed the run in 4.755 seconds at 147.57 mph.  Houston ran a 4.776 E.T. at 145.80 mph.

Bluff City's Randy Walters collected Sunday's Pro win over Justin Buckles of Elizabethton, Shawn Cowan took home the Sportsman trophy, while Ben Denton completed a sweep of Jr. Dragster Division I by knocking off Kingsport's Riley Davis in Sunday's final.  Not to be outdone, Denton's older brother Avery won the Jr. Dragster Division II title on Sunday when Denver Maltba of Newland, N.C. received a red-light disqualification.

Bristol Dragway returns to action with Guy's Night at Street Fights on Thursday, July 24, while the Brawl in Bristol bracket event will keep Thunder Valley busy July 26-27.
