Traveling a quarter-mile at 200 mph on two wheels isn't for the faint of heart, but that kind of heart-pounding excitement is exactly what the All Harley Drag Racing Association will bring to Bristol Dragway for the Aug. 9-10 Rush Racing Products Thunder In the Valley Nationals presented by Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson.
The two-wheel missiles return to Thunder Valley for an event that has grown into one of the most highly-anticipated and well-attended events of the AHDRA series.
Fans can expect to see plenty of fast action on the legendary track, with three nitro classes, modified gas bikes, street bikes and more. In all, AHDRA offers 16 classes of competition with more than $60,000 in winnings available for participants at each event.
With the arrival of the mid-season mark in AHDRA's Screamin' Eagle Championship Series, the competition is heating up as many riders find themselves behind the eight ball with very few chances to make up lost ground. Championship leaders show no signs of slowing down, and racing is expected to be stronger than ever at the Rush Thunder in the Valley Nationals.
In addition to the racing action, a huge array of vendors will be on site in Thunder Valley along with the Official H.O.G. Pit Stop. Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) members will be treated to a free H.O.G. pin and refreshments with paid admission.
Pre-race activities kick off at Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson on Thursday, Aug. 7 at the AHDRA Nitro Party with live entertainment, race bike displays, food and much more. The party begins at 4:00 p.m. The dealership is located just minutes from the track at 3518 Bristol Highway in Johnson City.
Racing begins Saturday, Aug. 9 with qualifying slated for 9:00a.m. On Sunday, Sportsman eliminations begin at 9:00a.m., while the professional categories take the track at 12:30 p.m.
Admission to the Rush Thunder in the Valley Nationals presented by Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson is $50 for the weekend and $30 for single-day admission. Children 11 and under are admitted free.
Free admission also is offered to active and reserve military personnel with proper identification. H.O.G. members receive a $5 discount at the gate with a valid H.O.G. card.
Weekend camping is available at Bristol Dragway beginning Friday, Aug. 8. Campsites are only $25. On Saturday night, fans can rock to the tunes of North Carolina's PeacePipe band beginning at 8:00 p.m.
Discount tickets are available at Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson in Johnson City, Tenn. and Colboch Harley-Davidson in Morristown, Tenn.
